three little words
February 22nd 2008 03:25
I'm home, working frantically on something I wasn't supposed to be working on considering I'm supposed to be on a so-called Vacation Leave.
I keep thinking to myself, " I know I filed today as a Vacation Leave, or did I? Yeah, I know I did. In fact I think I still have my signed copy somewhere here.."
Unfortunately in my line of work, there's no such thing as "I'm on Vacation." What's more annoying is that most of the time you want to go on Vacation are the times you are more needed at work. Any other day, I can go home and not think of work for 5 straight days (except of course when I'm in the office).
So there I was trying to finish something as fast as I could to make the most out of the ONE DAY I filed for a vacation leave for a little breather and some quality time with my son. My son's happy watching his dose of Disney Playhouse, singing and dancing and jumping around.
I get all lost in my thoughts and stupid errors in the stupid spreadsheet and stupid duplicates in the stupid database when my son climbs up my chair, hugs me from behind and rests his head on top of mine and says "I love you!" all while his eyes still glued to his cartoon.
The best things in life are indeed free... Everytime this happens I'm high above the clouds..
