Everyday I go to CNN.com to find out what's happening around the world. Unfortunately, if it's not something sad, it's something tragic, disturbing or disgusting even. This is why I started this blog. This blog is all about feel good stories. sappy, yeah but we can all use one every now and then. Things that can lift us high above the clouds. :) ss_blog_claim=fb3c65eb182fdd37ae437a694d2ea7d5

Faith

May 21st 2008 19:15
WELLINGTON (Reuters) - Two New Zealand pilots whose plane ran out of fuel landed on a wing and a prayer, literally, local media reported on Wednesday.

Grant Stubbs and Owen Wilson from Blenheim, at the top of the South Island about 50 kilometers (30 miles) south of Wellington, were in a microlight plane when the engine cut out.

"When you're in a microlight if you crash, you usually die. I turned to O B (Wilson) and he said we had no fuel," Stubbs told the Marlborough Express newspaper.

"I asked what we should do. He said: 'You just pray Grant.'"

Stubbs said he prayed to God to get them over a ridge and they finally landed in a small grassy area, and beside a 20 foot high sign saying "Jesus is Lord -- The Bible."

Talk about faith! These guys were set on probably dying when they ran out of fuel but they had faith, they believed and they prayed.

I'm not a very religious person despite living and growing up in a very Roman Catholic country. I found a lot of the Catholic church's teachings to contradict the people's actual practices. How their values most of the time are not what people live by.

I do, however, believe there is an omniscient being present in everything we do. I still have faith, but not specific to a religion... And it feels good to know there's someone you can run to, depend on and even be scared of, to give you strength, courage, hope and conscience.

Sometimes all we need is a nudge, a sign from him (or her) to let us know we're not alone.

These guys believed, they had faith. They prayed and God reminded them both literally and spiritually that he or she's just there.

Have a good day.

Thanks for this story, Hazel. I'm not religious; I believe in people. I believe that if you're looking for co-incidences like this you will find them. They were very lucky, I think!!

I'm not religious either, but as I said I believe in prayer.

I do believe in positive affirmations, which some people use prayer to do.
