Coffee Comfort
August 17th 2008 01:27
One of the sure fire ways to get me going is a warm cup of coffee. Nothing beats that. It doesn't even have to be one of those "gourmet" coffees. Just a warm cup of freshly brewed coffee. Sometimes I'd even settle for instant coffee just to settle my nerves when I'm a bit stressed already or to wake me up a bit when I'm doing a project.
I started drinking coffee when I got to high school. Since then I got hooked! During that time there were still debates on whether coffee is good for you or not, especially children. My parents weren't so sure if I should be drinking coffee at that age, but what the heck.
Since then, mornings are just more wonderful with coffee. Especially when it's raining outside.. hmm... I can already smell the wonderful aroma of freshly brewed coffee.
I remember when we went to NY for a month-long vacation and to attend a cousin's wedding, we stayed at my aunt's huge house in uptown New York and she had to buy those industrial coffee makers for all 20 of her guests every morning!
That was heaven to me! Waking up at spring, in New york, still in my PJs, walking outside to the patio, chatting with my cousins, with a warm cup of coffee in our hands. Aaahhh those were the moments.
It's not just drinking coffee, it's the warmth of the mug in your hands, the smell of it and even the sound of brewing coffee. It's just comforting to me.
Ironically, coffee calms me. A lot of studies and researches are still being done to figure out if coffee is indeed good or bad, but I say, it will depend on who's drinking it. I know Coffee's been good to me all these years. so, why listen to all the "bad for your health" stuff?
Now, where's my mug of coffee? It's 9 in the morning and I still haven't had my coffee...
How about you? what's your comfort drink?
